LUDHIANA: With the announcement of datesheet for Class X and XII, nervousness and examination fever have gripped students, who would be taking exams under the semester system for first time. Moreover, changes in science syllabus of Class IX just 15 days before the exams for the first semester, has left the students shocked.
As per the information, board exams are scheduled to start from September 6 and it's the last-minute preparations that are going on.

While a few students are fretting over examination pattern as they would be appearing under semester system for the first time. 'We are preparing for the exams, but its the new system which is making us nervousness,' said Aman Jyot Kaur, a student of government school.
However, it is worth mentioning that already the policy of evaluation system has been made under which the board would take two exams ' first in the month of September and second in March ' and students failing in the first semester would be given one mercy chance. And moreover the board announced internal assessment in the classes, now the exams would be of 70 marks only.
Tension is writ large on faces of students of goverment and private schools. 'We were just trying to understand and cram the current syllabus, but now at the eleventh hour we will have to learn new things as our science syllabus has changed. Its not fair,' rues Gurpreet Kaur and her friends studying in Class IX in one of the city goverment schools.
Sanjeev Thapar, principal of the PAU Government School, said its true that the students are nervous because of the semester system, but the changes made in the syllabus are not so much that students can't cope with.
Another school principal said some of the students are not ready to accept that these are their final exams and teachers are continuously emphasising making them realise that they have to score well.
